Keep on reading to see my tips on my travel beauty and skincare essentials.
I think a lot of people go into panic mode when it comes to packing skincare and beauty products for holidays as they run to their nearest boots store and pick up every single mini product from the travel section even if you have never tried the products before. Why? Why pick up products you have never tried before? I think its so important to stick with what you and more importantly what your skin knows.
1. ‘Bioderma Make-up Removing Micelle Solution‘
I cannot live without this Micellar water solution. I use this morning and night before using my three step Liz Earle cleanse, tone and moisturise products. The reason I use this first [even though I know the Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser would remove all my make up] is because I want to remove the majority of my makeup using this before using my cleanser with its muslin cloth to take off the remainder. Doing it this way makes me think that the cleanser really gets into my skin more.
This is what I find has worked best for me and my skin and I will continue to do this routine. This product is also great for using throughout the day if you don’t wear makeup and just wanted to sweep a cotton pad across your face for a quick freshen up.
2. Liz Earle – Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise
I won’t go anywhere without this three step system. This is what keeps my skin looking young, fresh and clear. I had this travel set for my birthday and of course I took it along with me on my two week holiday in Florida, it was the prefect size to travel with. To have a more detailed guide on these Liz Earle products please check out my blog post ‘Liz Earle Skincare Edit 1.0‘.
3. Lancôme Hydra Zen Range
Even though I have a moisturiser in my Liz Earle routine, I also use these moisturisers by Lancôme from their ‘Hydra Zen’ range. As you can see these are the mini versions which I actually got free in a set when I purchased two items not so long back. The full set of free products will be up on the blog soon. For now I am talking about these two moisturisers one for the day and one for the night. It is a great way to try them as they are quite expensive for the full size so to trial them in these handy sizes first is great before knowing whether to take the plunge and purchase the full size products.
I thought these would be good to come on my holiday with me as the day cream contains SPF15 and as its called the ‘Hydra Zen’ range they both give a lot of hydration for the skin which is particularly handy for on holiday when your skin gets dry from the heat. So for me these were a definite must bring!
4. Simple Baby Wiples / Avène Eau Thermale Thermal Spring Water
I don’t go anywhere with a pack of handy wipes. They can be used for so many different things. A spillage in your bag? Food down your top? Sticky hands? Freshening up your face? The list goes on. These are particularly handy for the beach when that lolly or ice-cream you like is dripping down you in the heat or if you have sand stuck to you or even on your phone.
These are the baby version but I find them better for my sensitive skin. I also don’t go away without some sort of spring water this one by Avène is by far my favourite I have tried so far. Its handy in this 50ml size for only £3.00 but also comes in 150ml for £10.00 and a 300ml too. I picked up the small one this time as I thought it would be handy for my handbag while wondering around the Florida malls and theme parks. Also a quick tip, keep it in the fridge overnight so its nice and cool and refreshing on your skin throughout the following day.
4. Herbal Essences / OGX / Tangle Teezer
There are only a select few hair shampoos and conditioners that actually work on my hair. As my hair is so thick and long I find some shampoos don’t lather up well enough for my particular hair type. I find the two brands that work best for me are Garnier and Herbal Essences. I went with the Herbal Essences for my trip as the travel size was so slim and fitted in my travel bag easy.
I chose the ‘Hello Hydration’ version as my hair gets quite dry in the heat and from being in a pool full of chlorine is really drying on my hair too.
I don’t normally go anywhere without my Liz Earle hair oil but unfortunately it run out and I didn’t have a chance to get a new one before holidays. So in my local Tesco’s I picked up this Coconut Hair Oil for around £4.90 by OGX and so far I am loving it and it smells amazing! I have even been spraying it on my hair before going out just to give it that extra shine and protection. Last but not least, the Tangle Teezer. I couldn’t live without this amazing product. As my hair is so long it gets incredibly knotty after washing and this is the only brush that gets rid of all those tangles with ease. If you don’t own one invest now! Honestly you won’t regret it.
5. Soltan Suncare
You can’t go on holiday without being prepared to protect your skin from sun damage. I always used to use brands such as Piz Buin or Nivea. However since learning about the star ratings on the back of suncreams I swear by Boots own brand Soltan. Its the only suncream that has a 5 star UV protection and if you look at the most popular talked about brands you would be shocked to see their star ratings on the back. Next time your in your local Boots go and check it out.
I always pick up a handy sized suncream to carry around in the days to the parks and where ever else we may head as its always handy to touch up on any areas you feel are burning in the sun. I also purchased a SPF lip balm by Malibu which is handy for those dry lips in the heat. Its also a great primer for under your lip glosses and lipsticks.
